normal_check_interval question.

Hello, 
 
I'm wondering if anyone has experience changing the timing of the intervals that nagios
performs it's checks. I've played with it a bit, but I've noticed that once you go below 1 minute, 
the timing does not seem to follow any kind of logical form. The reason for me needing to 
get the checks to as low of an interval as possible, is because we have financial industry based applications that work in real-time and when there is an issue, we need to be notified 
as soon as possible. So I'm just trying to see if anyone has been able to successfully bring
the timing of the service checks down under a minute interval. Any responses or suggestions are appreciated, thank you very much.
