config file problems

Im trying to get nagios up and running here on a small group of machines
in our lab before putting it into production on our network over the
summer sometime. I have nagios installed correctly, and Ive been
following the docs for config file definitions. However, when I try to
run nagios with the -v option it looks at my mini config file and gives
me a null value error wherever I have a define statement. For example:
define timeperiod{ /* This is the line that gives the NULL value error */
       timeperiod_name 24x7
       alias 24x7
       sunday 00:00-24:00
       monday 00:00-24:00
       tuesday 00:00-24:00
       wednesday 00:00-24:00
       thursday 00:00-24:00
       friday 00:00-24:00
       saturday 00:00-24:00
       }

This is on Solaris 9 with a 2.0b2 install. It does this for all of my
define statements, not just this one. Its probably something small that
Im missing, but nobody here has been able to figure out the problem.

Thanks,
Ashton
