NRPE version ?

Hello,

I am running nagios 1.2 sine it is the most stable version. The default
available nrpe plugin is 2.0 ? Which says that it is not backwards
compatible ?

So I downloaded nrpe-1.9. 

Is there any major problems with 1.9 ?
