for each service/host there is a contact group. you can add as many or as 
few contacts to each contact group.  It is quite flexible and granular. 
Don't see what is missing here.

downtimes are different from notifications.
flexibility in downtime scheduling requires a little script writing to 
make the appropriate entries.
