No. Only processes forked by Nagios have access to these variables.

Not unless executed by Nagios, no.

foo=bar
echo $foo
should get you on the learning curve. The topic is far too wide and deep 
for this forum. I'm sure O'Reilly and friends have a vast pile of books 
on the topic.
