So you installed NRPE on the remote Server, configured and started it (or
configured inet.d/xinet.d)?

If you can do a
nagios-server#check nrpe -H yourhost -c check_disk
and get an repley everything should be good..

Have you entered a check_command in checkcommands.cfg?
check_command
{
	command_name	check_nrpe
	command_line	$USER1$/check_nrpe -H $HOSTADDRESS$ -c $ARG1$
}

did you check whether the user nagios (or which you specified for running
nagios) is allowed to run check_nrpe?

try:
su nagios
/usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_nrpe -H yourhost -c yourcommand

 from the commandline..
change path if necessary!
