checking Windows local services

Hey guys,

Currently, I am using nagios nrpe to check services on a remote Windows 2k
machine. It works but sometimes, very seldom, it times out, then service is
reported again OK on the next run. We are using another tool called Servers
Alive. To check a service on a remote Win2k, it only needs a username and a
password. Can we do the same thing to with Nagios by compiling it with samba
support? What's your recommendation?

No TCP port checking please.

Thanks in advance.

Neil
