If you look around then you shall find the libpng files that you need
for nagios, os x 10.2 was my testing box for configuring nagios before
deploying it on a BSD box.

Two seconds of searching found the homepage for libpng:

http://www.libpng.org/pub/png/libpng.html

Read the instructions carefully in order to install this and GD. I don't
know why you are following a redhat guide when installing on mac os x,
take time out to read the instructions for installing it on a mac.

Mannuals on these things are your friend. I had a bit of trouble until I
read the guides for all the things I needed to install, but once I
commited myself to reading carefully I found that it compiled without
any problems.
