Is bogus packet-loss really a problem?

The bogus packet loss is encountered when threshold values are set 
higher than per-packet timeout values (the plugin stops listening after 
a timeout, so packets received after that are considered erroneous).
I wrote a replacement some time ago which addresses this and various 
other issues. Browse the archives, and you'll find it there (check_fping 
replacement blahblah), or wait until it's included in the default plugin 
package (as check_icmp I believe).
