hostextinfo being ignored

Found the answer to my own problem.  Turns out it is a debian bug:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=239174

While the debian build files claim it's built with
--with-template-extinfo, this is not true.  The build is actually missing
that.   Rebuilding using the configure line it says it uses cleared it
right up.

I sent this info along to the debian bug e-mail address - I hope it goes
to the right place. :)
