I don't know if you can add a hostgroup to the extended info file. You can certainly add an entire hostgroup to be monitored by a single service, by defining
hostgroup_name	Switches
in the service definition. I suppose you could try this in the extended info file.
With that said, the extended info doesn't do much more than add hosts/services to your network map. How would you display a hostgroup on the statusmap? Why would you?
