status log documentation?

Is there any written documentation for various log files in
/usr/local/nagios/var?  They look like they might have (much of) the
information I need to generate some local reports, but I'm not sure how to
interpret the fields.  I peeked at the source in xsddefault.c which looks
like the file where some of that info is dumped.  It writes out some
variable names like time_up, time_down, time_unreachable, etc., but I can't
tell how to figure out (for instance) that host X has been up 97.37% of the
time in the past week.
