Web page not showing hosts that are down

What's likely happening is that nagios is so busy trying to verify the
status of the hosts that are down that it stops doing everything else
(really, everything). You might want to take a look at your
check-host-alive command and tailor it to more suit your environment. A
suggestion would be to have it ping the host only once with no retries.
