Device is down but it isn't

In general terms, the host's check_command that you've configured  
doesn't accurately reflect the state of the host. What is that command  
exactly and does it work as expected when run from the command line as  
the nagios user?

Please post the host{} and command{} definitions and the test run from  
the command line if you need further help
