nagios to monitor errors?

If you can find an OID that reflect the errors without being a counter
(ex. number of errors in the last x minutes) that would work well with
check_snmp. Otherwise your options are:

Write your own plugin or find one on NagiosExchange. Basically it have
to find the difference of the errors counter between the last and
current poll.

Use something like Cacti with the thresholds plugin. I don't know much
about it, but it can send alerts and you can probably use it to send
alerts to nagios to get central monitoring.
