User Cannot View Hosts

Nagios 2.11
Latest plugins
Ubuntu 7.10

I can post snippets of host and contact files if necessary. However, I'm curious about what you've said about cgi.cfg. The new contact shouldn't have to be defined here, should it? In cgi.cfg I can define users to be authorized for ALL Host Commands and whatnot, but this is not what I want. By default, shouldn't anyone listed as a contact for a host be able to view that host?

Thanks,
Garry

Are you sure you have the new contact properly defined in cgi.cfg to be able to view/execute commands on the hosts in question? What version of Nagios and the plugins are you running? What OS are you running? Can you post snippets of the host(s), contact cfg files in question?

Subject: [Nagios-users] User Cannot View Hosts

I've setup some new servers in Nagios, and assigned them to a new user listed in contacts.cfg and in an .htpasswd file for cgi access.
Running the configuration verification check shows no warning and no errors. When logged in to the GUI as this user I can view all of the services, run commands to check them, etc., but cannot view or send host related commands.
Anyone know what I'm missing?
Thank you,
