Nagios process not running? It is running!

I've noticed this myself when installing hardened servers with grsec but 
the ps output should limit you to seeing processes that your user owns, 
right?

So in that case if the check is run by the nagios user then it should be 
able to it's own process of nagios, so I don't think this is the issue. 
Root can of course see all procs.
