If you have found nagios and the mailinglist you must have seen there is a
a documentation section as well on the website.

I suggest you start by reading the fine manual and then get back with
specific questions if the manual is not clear and a simple google search
can not help you find the answer either.

If you need someone to help you through all the stages there is also a
section about companies offering consultancy on installing nagios and
implementing it in your network.

But I guess as an engineer you will just sit down and read the manual for
yourself first and start to post smart questions with the proper detail
level if you find you're stuck somewhere.
