Yes and no. We have private IP's routed on our network assigned to the
L7 interface on each router. That way we can always reach the router for
monitoring/maintenance as long as one external interface is up. It was a
convenient place to put the !~#x designation which is the total number
of interfaces with !~@ that should be seen (not necessarily the total
number of interfaces).

I hadn't considered it as I didn't think the problem to be widespread
and because it requires very specific router configuration. That being
said, we've been using it for over a year and a half now for ~350
routers successfully. Pending a code review I don't think that I would
be opposed to sharing it.
