Hi Marc,

Thanks for the reply.

I'd thought of this as well, as I did have some double-notifications
being sent out when I originally installed Nagios a few months back.

However, here is the output of "ps auxwww|grep nagios" at this minute:

nagios 25891 0.0 0.0 18716 1304 ? Ssl 10:48 0:00
/usr/local/nagios/bin/nagios -d /usr/local/nagios/etc/nagios.cfg
root 28664 0.0 0.0 4700 676 pts/0 S+ 16:35 0:00 grep nagios

Now if I catch it while it's doing a check, I get the following:

nagios 25891 0.0 0.0 18716 1304 ? Ssl 10:48 0:01
/usr/local/nagios/bin/nagios -d /usr/local/nagios/etc/nagios.cfg
nagios 30205 0.0 0.0 18720 1308 ? S 16:37 0:00
/usr/local/nagios/bin/nagios -d /usr/local/nagios/etc/nagios.cfg
nagios 30206 0.0 0.0 4904 736 ? S 16:37 0:00
/usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_ping -H 84.18.200.160 -p 10 -w 500,50%
-c 1000,100%
nagios 30215 0.0 0.0 1680 528 ? S 16:37 0:00
/bin/ping -n -U -w 20 -c 10 84.18.200.160
root 30226 0.0 0.0 4696 672 pts/0 S+ 16:37 0:00 grep nagios

Notice the 2 daemons - is this by design? If I stop the nagios daemon,
all processes exit so I just get "grep nagios" listed.

On my SMTP check as well, at the moment it is reported it as "OK - (No
output!)" when really it should be "CRITICAL - Connection refused" as
the SMTP service is not running.

Thanks

Andy.
