Why no more than one SMTP server on network?

Most easy is to install and configure sendmail on the server where
Nagios runs.

Technically this would be another SMTP server but you would simply use
it to forward mail to your main SMTP server. There is lots of
information on the Internet about how to configure sendmail to simply
forward all e-mail to another SMTP server.

Also I suggest you read the Nagios FAQ
http://www.nagios.org/faqs/viewfaq.php?faq_id=150&expand=false&showdesc=
false

which pretty much says it all on this subject.

Subject: [Nagios-users] E-mail Message

Guys,

Can anyone help me about configure the Nagios to send e-mail message
using other SMTP server instead the SMTP server installed in the same
server of the Nagios ?

We cannot install two SMTP server on the same network, so I need
configure the Nagios to use my main SMTP server.

Thank you.
Hugo
