The core has a C API. You can make a C++ API out of it by adding the 
proper ifdefs. It isn't documented at all. You might want to read the 
sources of the nagios-db NEB-module, or have a look at 
http://oss.op5.se/nagios/sampler.c to see what can be done with it.
