Nagios 1.2 and prior had native support for a Mysql backend but it only
stored current check status in the database, not prior. 

Nagios 2.x drops all native DB support but it is available via the
nagios-db addon module. Google or search the archive for links and
further information. Nagios-db stores current and historical check data
in the database I believe.
