Want to monitor Oracle , without running scripts on the Oracle Server

As noted by dmourati there already are some plugins available and they also
work with the "new" oracle instant client :
http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/oci/instantclient/instantclient.html
 (getting this to work can be tricky)
