Nagios Updated a host but old host is still pinged

Actually, I think that such a check could be done. Nagios reports its 
PID on startup, so, before shutdown, note all processes who are 
(grand^x)children of that one, restart, and then kill all the ones left 
from your list.

Of course, adding a sleep 10; killall nagios to the startup script would 
be even simpler :-)

And then, I assume that many many people restart their nagios processes 
seldom enough to not care for this issue.
