Securing WAP access to statuswml.cgi

I believe the standard statuswml.cgi does not have authentication. The
solution we're using is to put the page behind a firewall that provides a
separate authentication mechanism.
You may be able to find some wml-friendly authentication script and wrapper
statuswml.cgi in it.

Keep in mind that WAP devices generally share an internet proxy operated by
your provider. So, enabling WAP access is unsecure at best.
