Segmentation fault

I got a page like this one for each host I monitor.  No idea it means. 
The host was clearly not down.  Does the "Segmentation fault" mean there 
is a .core sitting somewhere that might tell what happened?  The problem 
seemed to surround a check_ping command which was hung, but that's 
unsubstantiated.
