Sorry for the last mail.

ok.

1) Nagios version: 2.0b3
2) I changed the e-mail to send the alert (in this server I have more
services that send alerts and all of them are working)
3) no error message
4) the log has the following entry:

[1115331023] Warning: Attempting to execute the command "/usr/bin/printf
"%b" "***** Nagios *****\n\nNotification Type: RECOVERY\nHost: Raq4\nState:
UP\nAd
dress: 10.66.1.11\nInfo: PING OK - Packet loss = 0%, RTA = 0.18
ms\n\nDate/Time: Thu May 5 18:10:23 AST 2005\n" | /usr/bin/mail -s "Host UP
alert for Raq4!"
d.santos at barcelohotels.com.do" resulted in a return code of 127. Make sure
the script or binary you are trying to execute actually exists...

5) misscommands.cfg entry:
# 'notify-by-email' command definition
define command{
        command_name notify-by-email
        command_line /usr/bin/printf "%b" "***** Nagios
*****\n\nNotification Type: $NOTIFICATIONTYPE$\n\nService:
$SERVICEDESC$\nHost: $HOSTALIAS$\nAdd
ress: $HOSTADDRESS$\nState: $SERVICESTATE$\n\nDate/Time:
$LONGDATETIME$\n\nAdditional Info:\n\n$SERVICEOUTPUT$" | /usr/bin/mail -s
"** $NOTIFICATIONTYPE$ al
ert - $HOSTALIAS$/$SERVICEDESC$ is $SERVICESTATE$ **" $CONTACTEMAIL$
        }
6) Yes, I can send mail from the command line.

Thanks for your help.

Wow!! With that much detailed information, including:
  1) what version of Nagios
  2) what you have already tried
  3) the error messages you are getting
  4) the log file entries
  5) current misccommands.cfg entries and
  6) the fact that you say you absolutely can send mail from the command
line

All of that leaves me with one possibility for what can be wrong; it has
to be an IDtenT error.

Provide a tad more info (like the things listed above) and someone just
may be able to help you.
