host downtime and service notifications

You asked, "When a host is scheduled for downtime are alerts for services on that host automatically suppressed?"

I quoted, "When a host a service is in a period of scheduled downtime, notifications for that host or service will be suppressed."

Granted, the poor grammar used in the documentation lends a sense of ambiguity, but it does, in fact, answer your question. When you put a host into scheduled downtime, no alerts will be generated related to that host - services included - for the duration of the downtime. The whole idea of scheduled downtime would be moot if alerts were still generated during that time.

Right. But neither the first, second or any other sentence in the related
documentation reads "when a host is scheduled for downtime, notifications
for all services on that host are suppressed". apparently you
misunderstood what i was asking.

The third sentence of the related documentation reads:

"When a host a service is in a period of scheduled downtime, notifications
for that host or service will be suppressed."
