In the distribution contrib directory is a file named convertcfg.c.
You'll need to compile it as below but it will convert from the old
format to the new template format. You can then split out the
definitions among different files however you like.

bash-2.05a$ gcc -o convertcfg convertcfg.c
bash-2.05a$ ./convertcfg --help
Nagios Config File Converter
Written by Ethan Galstad (nagios at nagios.org)
Last Modified: 04-21-2002

Usage: ./convertcfg <config file> <object type>

Valid object types include:

        timeperiods
        commands
        contacts
        contactgroups
        hosts
        hostgroups
        hostgroupescalationss
        services
        servicedependencies
        serviceescalations

        hostextinfo
        serviceextinfo

Notes:

This utility is designed to aide you in converting your old 'host'
config file(s) to the new template-based config file style. It is
also capable of converting extended host and service information
definitions in your old CGI config file.

Supply the name of your old 'host' config file (or your old CGI config
file if you're converting extended host/service definitions) on the
command line, along with the type of object you would like to produce
a new config file for. Your old config file is not overwritten - new
configuration data is printed to standard output, so you can redirect it
wherever you like.

Please note that you can only specify one type of object at a time
on the command line.

Subject: [Nagios-users] Migration from Netsaint to NagiOS

I have recently migrated from Netsaint to NagiOS monitoring tool. Old
netsaint was configured with several hosts , host groups , contacts. Is
there any easy way to migration the old configuration / data to newly
configured NagiOS.

Any tool / script / utility for easy configuration migration. Old
netsaint configuration was in a single file where new NagiOS has
separate file for each host, host group, contacts.

Download URL is highly appreciated.

Regards,

Milind
