Canon ImageRunner check?

Sorry if this has been asked previously, I didn't find it anywhere....

I'm not a programmer, so writing my own plugin has been, well, a
non-starter.

What I am looking for is a way to monitor a Canon ImageRunner
copier/printer via Nagios in a fashion similar to HP printers.
Currently ping is about it. I've not worked up SNMP yet, nor really
researched it with Canon either, so that may be the only route.

Anyone looked at/worked on this yet? Ideas?
