schedule downtime without extinfo.cgi

Hi,
how would I configure a planned downtime for some services without
using the CGI?
I haven't enabled the possibility to send commands to Nagios via the
command CGI and don't want to.
I suppose there must be a way to configure that by editing one of the
configuration scripts, but couldn't figure out how to do that.
