Status Information

This is proper behavior and is covered in the FAQ and in numerous posts on the list. The short answer is that assumed to be up is the default state unless a service on that host has failed at least once. Why check a host if a service on that host is running ok is the logic.

Subject: [Nagios-users] Status Information

Hello,

Bit of a newbie question but ive set up a number of hosts with a ping service to see if the are alive, some show (Host assumed to be up) and some show PING OK - Packet loss = 0%, RTA = 0.24 ms in the Status Information.

Any idea why not all are showing ping ok ?

Thanks
