again: problem with nagios........

Hi I have changed the use_authentication to 0 and I don't get the error.but I am facing the following problem.

The requested URL could not be retrieved

While trying to retrieve the URL: http://10.116.20.5/nagios/cgi-bin/status.cgi?host=all 

The following error was encountered: 

Connection Failed 
The system returned: 

    (146) Connection refused
The remote host or network may be down. Please try the request again.

This appears to be an authentication problem, not a nagios problem.  Turn off authentication in the cfg, restart nagios and see if you can access it.

Hi folks,
I need your help immediately..
Today,I restarted my machine after a long time and when I opened to see the web interface,I am surprised to see that I cant open the services.

Snip when I run nagios with -v option 

Checking for circular paths between hosts...
Checking for circular service execution dependencies... Checking global event handlers... Checking obsessive compulsive service processor command... Checking misc settings...

Total Warnings: 0
Total Errors:   0

Things look okay - No serious problems were detected during the pre-flight check

After this I deamonized the nagios and tried to enter by giving the user name and password,where I encountered the strange message as below.

Authorization Required
This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required.

I have created a user and password which is present in /sbin folder as .htaccess  .

What changes I have to make to run as before.
