how to disable pager notifier.

hi folks,
how to disable email ,pager notifier . in misccommands.cfg do i have to
comment those lines and do the same in contacts.cfg.or by simply
commenting the lines  in nagios
cfg_file=/usr/local/nagios/etc/contacts.cfg
cfg_file=/usr/local/nagios/etc/misccommands.cfg will help.which one is
the simplest way and can you tell what are consequences in doing
this.and also explain what are the process-host-perfdata and
process-service-perfdata used for.
