notification on soft state

Subhendu,

That would be very inconvenient. Suppose a service would be checked once per
day. We have to wait for one day for the status changing from CRITICAL to OK
even though we know that the problem would be definitely fixed within one
day. Maybe, an easy way is for me to restart Nagios. :-)

You don't want to do that - consider soft state as an internal artifact 
(verification) not for end-user consumption.

Also the check intervals are static per definition - same whether in an ok 
or non-ok state.
