Checking keywords in logs on MS servers

Search the Mailing list, there where a few discussions about checking
the Windows Eventlog with Nagios.
Afaik which each of those solutions (like check_win_eventlog from NAPLAX
or a syslog Server, or SMNP Traps, you can define which port should be
used.
Another solution would be, that you simply set up your own Nagios Server
in the DMZ and then use NSCA and distributed monitoring.

Subject: [Nagios-users] Checking keywords in logs on MS servers

I would like to check events logs for specific error codes on
windows 2003 servers in DMZ, but I want to keep firewall ports to a
minimum, so far I have 22, 80 and 443 open, I may consider 161 once I
study the implications.

Anybody ever run into a requirement.

	Thanks

	Sam Harris
