After reading Andreas' reply, I used the command he suggested to see the
interfaces on my router. This particular router reports 5 active
interfaces when queried with check_ifstatus. Serial0 is shutdown, so
check_ifstatus pays no attention to it. Therefore, it looks like
check_ifstatus considers both the Loopback and Null interfaces
Administratively and Operationally 'up'.
