Parent of nagios?

I've been wishing for the same thing. Even just making the built-in implied
object configurable with service checks would be nice. That way there's
something to attach local checks to without having to have a seperate
localhost container object separate from the root nagios object.

(yes, I have checked the docs, but I cant figure this out).

How can I tell the status map that "the nagios process" is running on
the host "hooch"? Right now the map looks weird.
