NRPE 2.0 Failures

Greetings all,
    I have been having a devil of a time trying to get NRPE to work
properly, it doesn't seem to fail on SSL. No matter what I do, it always
returns  CHECK_NRPE: Error receiving data from daemon.  Has anyone else seen
this?

The platforms are all a mix of Linux and Solaris
