Authentication

I've done it with mod_auth_radius.

Don't confuse *AUTHENTICATION* with *AUTHORIZATION*.  They are two distinct
processes, although sometimes they use the same protocol.

It sounds like you are only changing the source of authentication, to LDAP instead
of something else, a flat text file perhaps?

Normally your authorization source will not change, it will still be in the
.htaccess files.
