I'm sorry, I don't know the meaning of "Chunk Size" myself, I just found a
document describing the use of pngtogd2 when searching the net, specifying
the two last parameters as "128 1". Unfortunately I did not save the URL.
:(

After having some difficulties making the icons show up properly in the
statusmap (version 1.1 of Nagios), it worked when I put the extended
configuration information in a separate configuration file, like mentioned
in http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/1_0/xedtemplate.html. You have
probably tried this, but in case you have not, it might be worth a shot.
