Nrpe Error Message

Hmm.  Nothing glaring that I can see.  Were there any messages sent to your
terminal before you got your shell prompt back?

Did you remember to put this in /etc/services:

   nrpe            5666/tcp                        # NRPE

See if that helps.  Try running it again without the --daemon switch.  Don't
bother with strace (for now).
