Nagios not writing to database

Weird issue: for the last couple of weeks Nagios has not been recording
events in it's database or it's log files. I'm not sure why, but it started
to record things again today. I made a quick change and restarted the
process maybe that refreshed it, but has anyone seen similar behavior?
