Nagios won't start - could not find status.log, errors on /proc filesystem

Hi,

Found the answer to my problem.  The /var/spool/nagios/nagios.cmd file was 
not writable by the nagios process.  This error message was found in the 
nagios log rather than any output to the terminal.
