Nagios Making Phone Calls - How ?

I haven't implemented it yet, but I've thought of doing it, integrating the
asterisk pbx (asterisk.org) with nagios so to make asterisk call some
sysadmin or developer to yell at them whenever something goes wrong :)

it's really no problem with asterisk. drop a something.call file in the
/var/spool/asterisk/outgoing dir, and asterisk will call whatever number and
do whatever you've specified in the .call file (say - play this or that .mp3
file, transfer to your girlfriend, record everything and forward it to the
guy's boss by mail as a .wav attachment etc). The possibilities are
innumberable :D

(ps. I've tried some of these possibilities ... I set up an extension, and
when in, dialed a number to call that person and set off playback of some
very very noisy contemporary music)
