parent_hosts option for remote hosts is not recognised

Hello,

I'm using nagios 1.0 o a linux host with the nagios 1.3 plugins.
I have setup several hosts with several services, so far all works fine.
Now the problem: If I try to use the option "parent_hosts" in a host
definition, the check of the configuration files via "nagios -v
nagios.cfg" gives the error message:
Error: Could not add object property in file '/var/nagios/etc/hosts.cfg'
on line 145.
This line is exactly the line where the "parent_hosts" option lives.

I have read the doc at all, but I'm not sure whether I have understand
the two features explicit "hostdependencies" vs implicit "hostparenting".

Is the latter no longer supported and do I have to implement the
dependencies with definitions of "define hostdependency" statements?

I have done this now...
I have exspected that these definitions have effects on the status map,
but there are no ones. All hosts are further on connected directly to
the nagios server, no tree diagramm with dedicated routers and so...

Bye
