Subject: RES: [Nagios-users] Router Monitoring Tool

Hello Dear ,

Tks for mail me back .

I think that you got what I want . I´m looking for a SNMP tool for
network equipaments ( routers , switchs , etc ..) that can have the same
functions as nagios ( reports , alerts , load monitor , each port of the
switch with load of the port , etc ) anyway I want to monitor all
resources that I can get from the equipament !! For example , Do you
know any tool that can monitor the quantity of packet and the volume of
the packets in a router ? Using the MRTG I got only the minimum or
average or maximum information of the traffic and that is my problem , I
need a tool that can give me a detailed information !!

Do you know any tool that can help-me ?

Tks a lot !!

What exactly are you looking to monitor? If you want to monitor a
router
but aren't interested in the output that MRTG gives (that's how I'm
interpreting what you mean by "don't give me a reponse that I want"),
you'll
need to look into some other sort of SNMP tool. Either that, or you'll
end
up hand-crafting any number of Expect scripts (with the telnet password
encoded :P) to extract the data that you want.

Again, what is it that you find lacking in MRTG? Are you looking for a
tool
which gives you up-to-the-second info? Are you looking for reports
which
you currently aren't getting (like CPU load on your router, for
example)?
Are you looking for e-mail/pager alerts (like the ones Nagios sends
out)?

Instead of making nebulous claims about what a given tool doesn't do,
please
make a (wish) list of things you want to see in a (dream) tool.
