Inserting events

Hello there,

I have a monitoring script which dials up a load of isdn lines and 
performs some
checks and (currently) logs via syslog.

I want to insert these events into nagios and the check_log thing 
doesn't do
what I want as it gives the number of instances and the instance name, 
whereas
I need one event per instance.

Can anyone point me in the direction of how I could get these events 
into nagios
cleanly? I can modify the script to output the data in pretty much any 
format
or get it to execute an external command or something.
