'Host assumed to be up' problem

Hi,

I am running Nagios version 1.0b6 on apache2.

I would like to check why I have got many hosts that show (Host assumed to
be up) Status Information under the Host Detail. But the status information
on the Service Detail show ping OK, etc...

Any advise is appreciated.
